Apple Pie FIlling
5-7 tart apples
¾ to 1 cup sugar
2 Tbs. enriched flour
dash salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg
1 double pie crust
2 Tbs. butter or margarine
Pare apples and grate or slice thinly. Mix sugar, flour, salt spices; add to apples. Fill 9 inch pastry lined pie pan. Dot with butter. Adjust top crust. Bake in hot oven (400°F) 50 minutes. If apples aren't tart, add 1 Tbs. lemon juice or grated lemon peel if desired.
