Ingredients
Pastry
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
½ cup milk
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cup flour
Filling
¾ cup sugar
1 cup chopped or ground raisins
1 cup boiling water
1 ½ Tbs. Flour
¼ tsp. salt
Preparation
Pastry
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and stir well before adding milk and vanilla. Then add flour into which the salt and baking powder have been sifted. Set aside until ready to roll out.
Filling
Mix flour, sugar and salt and add to raising and boiling water. Cook until thick. Roll cookies as thin as possible while still being able to handle them. On one cookie place approximately 1 tsp. of filling. Top with second cookie moistening edge with cold water. Press together so filling is out to edges. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 350 F until lightly golden on bottom and hints of gold on top.
