Date Delight

Ingredients

• 2 cups chopped dates

• 1 ⅓ cups chopped nuts

• 2 cups boiling water

• 2 tsp. soda

• 2 cups sugar

• 4 heaping Tbs. shortening

• 2 eggs

• 2 cups flour

Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg.  Pour boiling water over date and nuts, add 1 tsp. soda.  Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.  Combine with date mixture.  Pour into 9x13 greased pan.  Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes.
