German Gingerbread Cookies
1 lb. butter
1 can Lyle's golden syrup
1 can evaporated milk
1 egg
2½ cup sugar
2 Tbs. cinnamon
1 Tbs. ginger
½ Tbs. cloves
1 Tbs. soda
11 cups flour
Melt butter, add syrup. Add spices, evaporated milk, and egg. Mix until smooth. Add flour and refrigerate overnight. Roll as thin as possible, cut and bake at 325°F for approximately 5 minutes. Dough is very hard to work with. It is hard and sticky like modeling clay.
